Looking Back...

Aug 22, 2025

You might be surprised how much good can come from what feels like a setback.

Exactly three years ago today, I experienced something that completely caught me off guard: a layoff! It happened on a Monday morning during a surprise Zoom call. I wasn’t necessarily sad, but I was definitely surprised. It made me pause for a second and wonder, “Okay, what now?”.

Looking back, that moment turned out to be one of the most important in my professional journey. Sure, I was already skilled, but it pushed me to grow in ways I might not have otherwise. I took the time to sharpen my existing skills, learn new things, and reflect on where I wanted to take my career.

Of course, being laid off isn’t easy. I want to remind anyone going through this that your job alone doesn’t define who you are. It’s just one part of your life, not your entire identity. What truly matters are your skills, your attitude, and your core values. The right opportunity will come. Sometimes it takes time, patience, and faith, but it will come. So hold on to your confidence and don’t let that smile fade away...
